Apart from the sun and sand, music is one of the big attractions of Spain and hooray, pianos are still to be seen in the pubs and restaurants and I got to play some of them! Listed below, two of my favourites, they both had a beautiful grand piano and an engaging owner/manager. Valentino's seems to have disappeared, such a shame, it was a great restaurant with a charismatic owner/manager named Claudio. He was multi-lingual and had to be, on any given night conversation, food orders and musical requests were in half-a-dozen different languages. Wherever he is now is lucky to have him.
Darragh is the gaffer at the Claddagh Irish Bar, and Irish-accented English is the predominant language, Guinness the favourite drink. What a surprise to find a beautiful grand piano! |

It is great to find an Irish pub in Spain. Or anywhere else, for that matter. We let Fanous Seamus have a go at the grandpiano. |
