Ventriloquism, Comedy and Puppetry

A lifetime of trying to do it.

	London Bobby gently tells talking bird that he is going to be sold on eBay. Drama, Pathos. Watching it now, I regret that I sold it. 2008.
	Humphrey had a walking body, made in 1951. It was heavy and hard to work. I only did a few shows with it. This video made in 2008 to sell it.
	I was going to call this "The best vent head in the world, owned by the worst ventriloquist". However, on second thoughts, I have seen worse ventriloquists than I, never seen a better vent head though. It was made in 1950 by Len Insull whose work was sold through Davenport's Magic Shop, London. Video date 2011. See Len Insull, a great English craftsman. 	Horace the dummy makes a guest appearance on the London Bobby Show at the Salon Varietes Theatre in Fuengirola, Spain, April 2011. Horace on the left.
	Horace has a new hat, a Spanish bullfighter's hat, a Montera. He tells his friend London Bobby about it.
	Ted Reynolds used his skill with portrait oils to touch up Horace's face and this is a thank you note from Horace. 2010.


My first paid job. Probably made twenty-five shillings, 1949.	Humphrey and Willy amongst my kids and nephews. I expect they thought I was weird.	First promo shot with my first dummy, Willy. 1948. Half a century before "Strictly Come Dancing", I can't explain the outfit.

About 1969, a two week gig as emcee at the Victory Theatre, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Canada's equivalent of The Windmill. Doing comedy for an audience that had come to see the strippers, good training for future miscasting.	Horace being inappropriate to pianist Toni Blodgett, Victoria, BC around 1990. Horace is solid wood. I made him to travel and work in pub environments where I wouldn't risk Humphrey.	A wonderful ventriloquist with dummies of US presidents. I met him while working on the QE2. Sorry I can't remember his name, somebody please tell me.	Not a wonderful likeness of either of us, but fun.
