LONDON PUB NIGHT
Music Hall
A Night at the Music Hall, an evening of fun and British nostalgia with London Bobby in his Pearly Suit. Sing along, comedy and the songs made famous by Vera Lynn, Harry Champion, Marie Lloyd, Harry Lauder, George Formby, Billy Cotton and co. Serve with fish & chips and Guinness. A mixture of British and American Music Hall songs and Cockney comedy ensures that everybody has a good time.

Bobby sings the songs and thumps out a chorus on the piano as the audience joins in with gusto. American tourist audiences have this vivid mental image of England as it was depicted in wartime movies. London Bobby's mission is to bring to life the fun and atmosphere of a 1940's London pub. The show is interactive and free-form, a musical improv, reacting to audience reaction. Requests often include "Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" and similar pub favourites. Our Bob obliges with enthusiasm, not often stumped. See Repertoire

Bobby has long experience interpreting British humour for the American audience. What do they make of it all? Here's what the Honolulu Advertiser said about him:

London Bobby is an entertainer with a penchant for the outrageous - in dress and in song... For instance, he programs a lot of quaint, festive ditties that are charming because of his British accent. It might be difficult to understand him but the effect is what counts. And ah, doesn't he have fun at the keyboard...
Yes, it is fun. It's a right old knees-up! (a Cockney expression).

London Bobby's Pearly Queen, Vicky, is a Cockney charmer in her Pearly dress and fancy hat. She comes as an optional extra to the London Pub Night. She aids and abets audience participation and adds that extra sparkle to the occasion.

The show crosses the generation gap quite nicely. Traditional British Music Hall entertainment has a special appeal for the older audience and the young are surprised to find themselves caught up in the unique blend of music and comedy.

If you'd like to hear this music yourself you can get the CD's or tapes, see catalog, or book London Bobby himself for a live performance, see booking info.
